Hey Mike, The first thing we need to know is what type of stance do you use? Also are you a quad squatter or do you sit back into your squat? I personally use a "weightlifting shoe" not a squat shoe or boot. I squat with a higher bar position and stay rather upright as I squat. I'm returning from a severe adductor strain here so I'm not at my best form but as you can see I use a rather narrow stance. If you use a wide stance, then I'd just save the money and use some chucks! I've had several training partners that use a wide stance and have bought the expensive squat shoes and went back to the chucks. you can check out some weightlifting shoes here. www.vsathletics.com/product.php?xProd=1917Danny

This was a great come back meet for me, I'm very happy with my numbers although I knew going into it that I wouldn't get any meet PR's this time around. I did achieve my goal of bringing some records home to BMF!! 181, raw division Squat 450 opener very easy 485 felt good 500 should of gone a little heavier... Bench, this is my weak point 285 opener 300 felt good 310 missed, locked it out but guess it dipped a little during the accent deads, felt dead myself by this time. 540 very easy 565 felt good 580 out of steam by now. 1365 total Florida record

My name is Danny Aguirre, although I've been lifting for nearly 30 years I've only been competing since 2004. My first several meets were deadlift only meets. I had never considered competing until I was talked into it by some friends at the gym. At my first meet I pulled 500 @ 162 and I was hooked. I had no idea that that was actually considered a good lift for my weight. I did a couple of more meets after that my best being 530 @ 162. Unfortunately I had a small bout with cancer that kept me out of competition for a couple of years after that. My best full power meet lifts @ 181 since then have been a 550 squat, ( with knee wraps ) 330 bench and 540 deadlift ( bar slipped out of my hand with 570 ). My 530 @ 162 got me a #86 ranking in Powerlifting USA's top 100. I've made the top 100 twice more lifting raw against equipped lifters. My top meet deadlift has been 560 @ 177 which ranked #9 in Powerlifting Watch for 2007. My best gym pull has been 590 @ 180 and a 540 squat without wraps. Looking forward to interacting more with all of you on the BMF team.
