Alright so I'm looking for a pair of powerlifting shoes to enhance my squat. I've seen a couple different pairs. Inzer sells one for $125 called 'The Pillar". I saw Ricky Dale Crain's company selling a pair called the "Power Shoe" for the same price $125. Anyway I am not rich, so thats a lot of money for me. Does anybody have any suggestions on either shoe. I also saw Otomix makes a shoe called "The Ultimate Trainer" and it is $99. I want to buy the best shoe but I'm not sure how to know. Its not like I can sit down and put them on and try them out like at a sneaker store up the mall. I'll be ordering by mail so if I dont like it, Im not even sure if I can return it. Anyway Im a raw lifter so Im looking for every little thing I can to boost my lifts. If paying $125 gets me a few extra pounds on the squat then I say its an investment well worth it. Maybe Im over thinking this. Anyway any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks and take care.

Hey Mike, The first thing we need to know is what type of stance do you use? Also are you a quad squatter or do you sit back into your squat? I personally use a "weightlifting shoe" not a squat shoe or boot. I squat with a higher bar position and stay rather upright as I squat. I'm returning from a severe adductor strain here so I'm not at my best form but as you can see I use a rather narrow stance. If you use a wide stance, then I'd just save the money and use some chucks! I've had several training partners that use a wide stance and have bought the expensive squat shoes and went back to the chucks. you can check out some weightlifting shoes here. www.vsathletics.com/product.php?xProd=1917Danny

I watche dyour youtube squatting. I was very impressed! 415 for 5 raw at 178 lbs. is some serious weight. Also like you said your squat is very narrow stanced. Mine however is very wide. I found out the wider I go, the more weight I get and easier for me to break parallel which is very important for me as I did have problems with getting down low enough for parallel. Yeah I should go with the Chuck's. Louie Simmons recommended those to me a few years ago. Obviously he knows his stuff so I think I will do that. I am very sorry to hear about your adductor strain. I will pray for you and I pray you do well in your next meet. My back is kinda like this / when I squat. Its hard for me to keep upright with the heavy weight like you do. I dont have a video camera or else Id show you my squat. I dont rest the bar on my shoulders when I squat. My hands are very far out. I think that might be a manta ray grip not sure the official name for that. I noticed when I place my arms very far out on the squat bar I dont get the shoulder and neck pain. My arms are out wide almost like a crucifix but not quite that wide. Thanks for your quick reply. I will check out the weightlifting shoes too. Thanks and God bless.
