Eric, how do you programme your training now? I.e. are you still after a certain number of fundamental lifts & average intensitty per week?

Yes, I am still after a certain number of fundamental lifts; and sorta in terms of achieving a certain average intensity. I am trying to adopt Abadjiev's philosophies-slowly and methodically-to rated group classification powerlifters. To my knowledge, there is not much out there; so it is a process of trial and error.

Hey Eric,
Good total man...735ish? It looked like you missed / passed a few lifts going by your log on FI.
Still a VERY solid respectable total...how was your first meet back int gear?

17 June 2009 (Wed A.M.)
1. Squat: 50% x 3; 60% x 2; 70% x 1; KNEE WRAPS: 80% x 1; 85% x 1; 93% x 1 (9)
Training time: 36 minutes 2. Wide Grip Bench: 50% x 3; 60% x 2; 70% x 1; 80% x 1; 85% x 1; 90% x 1; 100% x 1 (10)
Training time: 23 minutes
3. Deadlift: 50% x 3; 60% x 2; 70% x 1; DL SUIT: 80% x 1; 85% x 1; 90% x 1 (9) Training time: 24 minutes
Bench press felt solid at 100%. I ran a .12, so there is not much left-but some. I also tied the fastest speed I have run in knee wraps on the squat with 93%. However, I am beginning to realize that on the deadlift that I pull better with a 7 foot stiff bar than a 7.5 foot deadlift bar. I used the deadlift bar on Monday (raw) and did not run as fast at 90% as I do with the 7 foot bar. Then today I did not run as fast at 90% on the deadlift bar as I usually do on the 7 foot straight bar. I guess it sucks to be me if the meet I go to is using a deadlift bar. I will continue to work with the bar these next few weeks, because I think the USPF meet uses a 7.5 foot DL bar.

Hey Eric, Good total man...735ish? It looked like you missed / passed a few lifts going by your log on FI. Still a VERY solid respectable total...how was your first meet back int gear? Hey Ben. I went 622 on my 3rd squat, I have no idea whether they passed my 347 3rd attempt bench (the lights are white in the video!), and then I pulled 600 on an opener and missed 661. My execution on the 3rd squat was poor. It took me forever to shift the weight onto my heels. I was not used to Dave's tight knee wrap. On the bench, we used a really, really loose shirt these past few weeks and in the meet just so I would build some confidence. This Friday I will be going into a tighter Super Katana. Finally, I pulled 600 like an empty bar, but dropped 661 when it got over my knees because I am not used to the whip of a deadlift bar. I am working with one now to see if I can "get it down" these next 2.5 weeks. It was an alright meet. I now know where I am at on a few lifts, I know when to start wrapping my knees, when to get into my suits in the warm-up room, etc. It was a smart move on our part to do this meet before the one in July.

Hi Eric,
I'm very very coriouse about your Abadjev experiment.
One things always fashinate me is that Bulgarian lifter said that if they didnt work 95%+ for a pair of days they result will lower. So instead of what we may thing they dont do a deloading phase (taper?) befor competition (as opposite of russian for example) Thinking a bit about how they trained it could make sense.
Nice work, you got an IPF total,

Nice work, you got an IPF total, Hey Ado. I have actually talked to someone who had an athlete train under Abadjiev. It was very interesting to get his perspective. They would be more concerned with 90%+ rather than 95%+. Many days they would exceed 95%, but they actually did do a deload before a competition, which was lower volume at 90% and usually not higher than that. However, everybody was different. Keep up with my log and you will see this put into action.

Abadjev is the most unknow and interesting things in weight training.
it is the opposite of Medvedyev style, but i think in training, differently to everything else, moderation does not works, when extreme does.

I've been reading a little on Abadjev. Do you think his principles could apply to all lifters or only CMS/MS+? Interestingly enough there's a top rated UK lifter who seems to do all of his work on fundamental lifts at 90%+ and then lower on accessory. He bases his lift numbers etc on prilepin.

Eric,
How do you like the Titan Super Centurion. From what I have read it sounds like an awesome suit.

The real test as to whether it works for me will come in the next few months, as I have raw competitions in August, September, October, (maybe November), December, and January.
