I've recently been having semi-regular email contact with Dr Power, asking her about her books, seeing if she could maybe participate in the forum ,etc. She aid she is very busy at the moment so she cant join the forum, but she has sent me some information which she has given me permission to reproduce here:
"Thank you for your invitation. I appreciate your interest in my research. Bill Walcott is a friend, and we support each other's work. If you have specific questions, do write me, and I'll try to answer when I can.
FYI: Dr. Abravanel did NOT invent the gland types! They were first discovered in Animal types (dogs) by Charles Stockard, DVM in 1941. He described 3 types: thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary (tall). Henry Bieler, MD (who quotes Stockard's research) first applied gland types to humans in Food Is Your Best Medicine, 1966, and his following book. He developed a fourth type: the gonad type. Bieler also incorporated toxemia patterns into his work, which he learned about in Europe. Abravanel took Bieler's 4 types and applied them to weight loss in 1983, with a gonad type for women only. Rather insulting to males!
MORE FYI: Peter d'Adamo, ND did NOT invent blood type based diets (1996)! He doesn't even report the correct kind and number of food lectins, which can be found in the scientific literature. He filed 3 patent applications, all of which were rejected, due to lack of any research and failure to file in a timely manner. His father, James d'Adamo, ND wrote a book on this topic called One Man's Food, 1980, for which the medical establishment ran him out of the country into Canada for many years. He incorrectly tied type O's to lots of dairy products. Jame's ideas were based on Nazi research done during WW2. In 1963 two anthropologists, Kelso & Armelagos, published the first real research statistically correlating blood types to NIH diet data collected from 31 cultural/ethnic groups. This showed that type B's eat more carbohydrates, type A's eat more fat, and type O's probably eat more protein. Weisberg & Christiano also published a book based on the latter, linking blood types and macronutrients and health risks.
FINAL FYI: My Biotype Diets® research is the first and only research to statistically correlate blood types (ABO, A1-A2, Rh) with 4 kinds of food allergies (IgE, IgG, T-cell, lectins). I have a patent pending, which is nearly finished, and registered trademark, and a published peer reviewed journal article.
I have books on all these older systems, including 4 ancient systems, in my library. I hope these factoids have been useful. You may post these 3 FYI on your forum if you would like.

Dr. Bieler used eggs as a therapeutic food, as an easily digestible source of cholesterol to make cortisol, because thyroid types tend to have weak adrenals. But it doesn't take allergies into consideration. [If you have allergies to eggs] try phosphatidylserine, which up-regulates cortisol receptors.
I don't use the gland types as a basis for diet recommendations. It's more useful for balancing strengths and weaknesses, employing life-style changes, supplements, etc. Thanks for posting the info.
