I understand that Carbo-Types seem to be able to go longer periods without food (one of my friends is a Carbo Type and can function well on only 1 meal a day, with no snacks), and Protein Types need to eat more regularly due to their generally higher metabolism.
Despite this, as a Protein Type, i would like to give my digestive system a rest once a week and do some kind of modified fast for 24 hours. I keep reading about the many, many benefits of fasting occasionally, and the fact that lots of cultures have used it for millenia and all preach its health benefits must mean there is something to it.
However, when i've tried fasting in the past, my blood sugar drops off after about 4 hours and i feel terrible and literally like i'm going to pass out. I've also tried modified fasts, such as only drinking beverages consisting of organic lemon juice, a small amount of raw honey, and cayenne, but it doesnt make any difference - i still feel awful until i get some fat and protein in me. Also, i'm concerend with hard training that a day without protien would result in muscle catabolism and impaired recovery for training in the following days.
Is there any way a Protein Type can do a modified fast without feeling so ill? I have read that some people use raw organic eggs on their modified fasting day if they crave protein - would that work? The thing is, i keep reading that protein is the worst thing you can consume of fasts because the resultant nitrogen output in urea just adds toxic load to the body. Confusing or what ?!?
Another option i considered is using free-form ammino acids, which are not significantly calorific and would therefore not burden the digestive system. However, they are quite insulinogenic and may make blood sugar issues even worse on a fast.
I also know that on William Kelley's detox regimes he use to use extra virgin olive (EVO) oil for cleansing the gall bladder (EVO oil causes the gall bladder to powerfully expell all the gunk that builds up in it), so could i use EVO oil as well on a modified fast day?
