Why do you think that Metabolic Typing hasn't caught on more than it has? You read the book and it makes perfect sense..try it and even more so. How come its still a very small subculture if you will? I'd like to get your thoughts on this. Thanks, Jared

Why do you think that Metabolic Typing hasn't caught on more than it has? You read the book and it makes perfect sense..try it and even more so. How come its still a very small subculture if you will? I'd like to get your thoughts on this. Thanks, Jared Hello Jared. This is *VERY SIMPLE*. It is the culture of Metabolic Typing and how we advisors are taught to proclaim the good word. In a culture where everyone is quite vain and wants instant gratification, Metabolic Typing does not promise that you will rapidly reduce body fat and do it in a matter of weeks. It promotes building health, which does not sell as many books as the latest fad diet. However, if you were to poll those that do adopt the Metabolic Typing philosophy as opposed to the kind of person that buys "The South Beach Diet", what you will find is that the person practicing MT has been doing so for years, and that the South Beach diet person has already moved on to the next fad. In addition, we as advisors are taught (properly, in my opinion) to not push Metabolic Typing, per se. We educate and then leave it up to the individual to decide. Working with the fad dieter is a dead-end road, and our screening process for such people is pretty involved; or at least mine is. MT is not about selling books and just making money. It is about educating the public and then if they see the light for us advisors to be completely and totally there for that person every step of the way. At the end of the day, our predominantly lazy society would just rather take a pill to cover up the symptoms than address the cause. We don't play to the masses and for that MT remains comparatively small; but extremely devoted, successful, and healthy!

Eric, Thanks for the reply. Is there any published research on the topic? Does Mr. Wolcott have any plans to put out any more information, i.e. updated version of the book, etc?

Jared, for each of the Fundamental Homeostatic Controls (9 in total i think), there are a number of reference texts you can read up on to see how that FHC has developed in its current form the way it is used in MT. For nearly all of the FHCs there is, i have found pretty convinving empirical evidence presented in the texts that discuss them. Mr Wolcotts book does provide a fairly good reference list for these texts.
I have to admit i feel that Mr Wolcotts book should have been much larger, and covered most of the FHC's in at least some basic detail, instead of just focussing on the autonomic nervous system and cellular oxidation FHC's. However, it does do quite a good job at explained the overall foundation of how MT hangs together. To understand MT in any detail, i think you need to do a significant amount of research on each of the FHCs to see how it all hangs together. This is what i am doing on and off at the moment.

Jared: Rob's post below yours is excellent! There are now actually 11Fundamental Homeostatic Controls of the body. There are new articles being published all the time, but most of them are privy only to MT advisors. It is then our job to pass that information on to our clients. I will ask Bill this week when I talk to him if he has any plans to update his book with a 2nd edition and then report back. In the meantime, if you or anyone else that has previously taken the test with me would like to receive the 2009 documents package, then email me at etalmant@hotmail.com. I have included some new articles in there that are certainly worth reading.

Yeah, some pretty good stuff in there. There are multiple new documents that get released to MT advisors every so often and then it is our job to convey that information to our clients. I will certainly keep everyone up to speed on the latest happenings.
