Last night, I learned from 'Nevada' Dave Norton that he is retiring from racing. Dave was our first and longest sponsored athlete, having been with BMF Sports almost since our inception.
As much as we will all miss his riding, we will enjoy his writing as he will now be able devote more time to writing his book. Most notable content will be of his cross-country ride (from OR to NY the hard way) in 2005 and 24-Hour race and Cyclo-Cross victories.
On the upside of Dave's retirement, he'll be around more to help with the BMF Cyclesport and BMF Kids programs as well as lend his knowledge to aspiring racers everywhere.
While we may have lost the anchor of our athlete sponsorship program, we're happy to know that Nevada Dave will be aboard and sailing with us!
This spring, we may have a little celebration for Dave here in Chicago, but he doesn't like having a big deal made about himself. Just the same, I do like making a big deal about him, so we'll see!

Bummer, it sucks to lose that type of spirit from the competitive team, it is great though that Dave'll be around to serve as a mentor and teacher!
