This is a partial posting from Powerlifting Watch.
Team Submitted by Staff on July 24, 2008 - 8:27am. In its latest newsletter, BMF Sports has announced that they will organize a Pro Bench Press Team in 2009. The team will be comprised of up to 8 men and 4 women. Already listed as team members are John Dolan, Bill Blackstone, Claude Bouyer, and Jim Patterson.
Team lifters will be paid to compete. In addition, they will receive travel assistance, logo apparel, bonuses for top placings, and bonuses for media exposure.
BMF: "So, what makes them PRO? Well, it's not simply being recognized as the top benchers in their respective amateur federations. These lifters will all be PAID TO COMPETE! That's right! They will receive paychecks after every meet in addition to back end sponsorship support from BMF Sports and associated sponsors."

Bud, Thanks for including me, it is greatly appreciated. Thank YOU, John! The support, encouragement and trust I've received from you and Bill since day one help make this possible. I'm looking forward to meets (most likely SPF and RUPC) where the entire team can compete together. It seems like everyone's been to Gatlinburg but me!

I would like to clarify a few things about the BMF Sports Pro Bench Press Team.
1. This team is not open to just anyone. It is a company team comprised of benchers who have helped establish and build BMF's presence in powerlifting. ALL lifters are on the team by invite only.
2. I don't care who's been on the cover or pages of PL USA or who gets their butts cyber-kissed on PL Watch. If you didn't help us get to where we are, you won't ride along to where we're going.
3. There are no restrictions on where a team member can compete. [sinister chuckle]
4. Members can compete independently of the team using their own resources.
5. Any equipped lifting done will not be recognized in team numbers or publicity.
If anyone has any footage of Neal Dreisig, please let me know as I would like to see more of him than I saw at the Raw Unity Meet.

Bud, i don't have any footage of Neal , but he use to lift at the gym i go to in peoria. I think he would be a great addition to your pro team. Neal was at the 100% raw meet in march of this year and won the best overall bench. he is very consistent with doubling his body weight on the bench. Nice kid , will get along with all of you.

Gale Johnson Thanks, Gale. Neal first impressed me by not copping an attitude when I asked him how to properly pronounce his last name at the Raw Unity Meet; then he impressed me with his performance on the platform. I look forward to talking and meeting with him to make him our 148 Open. Right now, we're looking at primary benchers then will start looking at alternates after the RUPC. Dreisig, Blackstone and Dolan.... That's gonna be some hella power blowing out of the Windy City! You should get a team together so we can do some meets together. I think that would rock PLUS it would mean some consistent raw lifting for Illinois!

Bud, I really don't have the time or energy to create a team. All I am trying to do is recover from my PEC injury and get back on the platform again. This is the first time i have ever in been injured and never want to go thru this again. i'm working hard to compete with you guys again soon.
As far as your Pro team. i really hope this works out for you. i think its a great idea! i said from day one that a pro level bench team in illinois would be great for our state. i really wish all you guys the best and hope only for success with this team. i would like to compete someday for a spot on this team.
As far as your meets in Illinois. I will do whatever i can to get guys to lift at your meets. If you ever need help with spotters or whatever just give me a call. Good luck with everything, Bud.

Hi all, Sorry, but I did not know this thread existed. I guess thats a part of getting old! LOL! Anyway. Great to have you all aboard. With Bud as our director and John's leadership on the platform, how could we fail? I look forward to meeting with all of you in October. The 18th will be one day before my 48th. What a gift from Bud that will be. Plus its easy for an old guy to remember when he is telling fables of his life to his grandchildren. Again thank you Bud, and the team members for helping one of my dreams come true. GOD Bless.
