An intermediate lifter (any ranked lifter) or lifter who is not a beginner, cannot induce improvement from workout to workout. So the way to get stronger is to plan a serious of workouts that will leave him slightly overtrained (purposely overtrained - thus prep cycles). Next step would be to take it easy to allow the body to recover (hence competition cycle), and test your max or go for proper competition.
Considering the fact that program 32 was intended to be done after 29-30-31, which we know are quite nasty, this means that 32 is long and easy enough to let a body recover from 12 weeks of "hell". So logically it would be too long and too little to be done after 29 only or after 37 only or after even 37-37.
I have read comments on this forum about 32 which went something like this "it seemed that 32 is too much of too little", and most of the times I suspect that 32 was not used as it should have been. It was done after a short mild prep phase. Now I have a question for Joel, whom I have great respect for, for he is a man who gave great input in this Shieko work.
Joel, you said program 30 is nasty and made you weaker (that's the purpose of 30 - to make you weaker short term but stronger after your comp cyle, ie 32). Did you become weaker during and after program 30- or did you still remain weaker than your previous level after performing 32 when you terminated 30. I appreciate your answer, because I am learning my way from the mistakes you guys on this forum make.
