Cliff notes background: 43 yrs old, 205ish, former strongman competitor getting back in the game (about 1.5 year layoff from sm but still getting gym work in).
I know its not technically a Sheiko question, but here it is:
Recetnly trying to get back into SM. Need to get log overhead going as I have neglected that. Also wanted to work front squat as I have had success in past in SM when my front squat was up.
So- finishing this week with second cycle of #29. (second time thru bumped overhead "max" 5lbs, dl 10lbs, front squat 10 lbs) Used front squat in place of squat, log overhead in place of bench, deads stayed. Did not worry about extras, just main lifts, did extra lifts when/if I could.
So-- Should I now run a #32 to get "max" on my lifts, or would just taking a deload then checking maxes be ok?
Plan is to next run a #29 using back squat, deads, and axle overhead. If everything works, I will most likely cycle between front squat and back squat cycles and work whatever overhead is coming up in a contest.
Like I said, I know it's not Sheiko, but I used those %'s. Does cycling between the front/back squats sound solid?
Do I need to run a contest or peaking cycle after #29??
Thanks for any and all comments/info.
Mark

What you could also do is run wk 4 of #29 again but take (say) 2 singles at 90% on each lift on the day when that lift has its heaviest work programmed. Then run #32 wk 4.
That'll give you a short peak->deload->max without taking a whole month.

Ben ; but when using only two weeks to peak, how can you really know your true maxes? Because you're not really going for a 1rm..

I'm just finishing 29/37, repeating week 4 of 37 seems a bit heavy pre-test, is there anything else you could recommend Ben? Thanks

Try the final week of #31 which has you do some 90% work, it works well for me.
