I have a squat comp in 6 weeks (including this one) i just finished 37 2 weeks ago (took 2 weeks of due to an infection in my leg) and was going to do 32 for peaking but my damn knees are killing me, because of the volume, so, starting monday i have 5 weeks...eeerr...makes sense?
Guess i´m looking for a way to reduce the volume on the squat portion of 32

John, that is a shame.
Do you wear knee sleeves? My training partner and I have found the Tommy Kono knee sleeves to work really well in preventing knee pain.
Could you also perhaps alter your squat technique to take some load off the knees? Do you squat narrow/forward?

I had knee pain. I had it for 15 months. It was diagnosed as patellar tendinitis. Was caused by adding volume and intensity too quickly over a short period of time. These days I do Shieko and I have no problem with my knees. Have done a 100% recovery. But first you have to give your knees time to recover. That's what I did for 6 whole months. Rest. Only ubber body work. Then I slowly started squatting again. Now I done 29 and 5 week peaking cycle by Bates. And at the moment I'm on 13 week cycle. Never have felt so strong. Btw I use Rehband knee sleeves now. But they won't do miracles. Just keep the knees warm. Rest and do Shieko because it is a method that enables you to build work capacity over time. And that includes ligaments, tendons and cartledge.
