Hey all, I'm about to finish up the first week of Dave's beginner program and I had a question. I'm currently in a PE class in college, and we are required to run on Wednesdays, eventually building up to a 3 mile run. Although the workouts haven't felt too tough, do you guys have any suggestions on how to organize my running around Sheiko. I know I'll be running before Wednesday's workouts, but I have them spaced out a few hours to allow me to eat and reenergize. But I will have to run outside of class to get better and I don't want it to affect my lifting.
FWIW, I am not squatting or deadlifting due to an injury, so it won't be affecting squat training. That, and we get tested on leg press, so I had to substitute that in.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Is there any way you can run AFTER your workout? That would be a bit more optimum. Can you just back everything up a day and do Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday?
Last year I did training for both a 5k and mountain bike race while I did my Sheiko workouts, I just made sure I never ran or cycled 24 hours before I squatted. While it wasn't perfect, it was good enough. I found the cycling really didn't hurt my lifting too much provided it wasn't more than an hour at a time, the running however did affect me. Bench is likely going to be affected least of any lift from running, so that is a positive since that is the only competition lift you are training.
If you can't reoganize your schedule, then I would say what you are doing is as good as it is going to get, get as much time between activities as you can.

I would definitely move your Sheiko sessions to Sun/Tues/Thurs and do your running on Mon/Wed/Fri.

Thanks for the responses guys! I'll have to see after this week, because in this same PE class we are supposed to lift weights on Monday. This Monday will be our first time, so I'll see how he has it set up. If he lets us do our own thing, I'll talk to him (to prove I know what I'm doing) and use class as a recovery workout using very light weights. That would allow me to lift Sun/Tues/Thurs and recovery/run on M/W/F. I'll let you guys know the deal after Monday. If anyone else has a suggestion, let me know.

Yeah if you could get away with doing light SPP circuits on Monday that would be ideal.

I just have to see, because it is a college PE class and some of the teachers will let you do what you want (if you know what your doing), but some get this stupid 3x8x70% stuck in their head and want you to do what they think is best. I've had this teacher before though, so I think I could convince him to let me do what I want, as long as I still do well on our strength tests.
