I competed on the weekend as well.
Last comp was 7 weeks prior and i got 515kg total. Need 525 to
qualify for Nationals. So i asked Dave about doing a short 7 week reduced volume prep aimed at getting the 525.
Squats started terrible i opened on 195 weight was too light no depth.
Plan was for big jumps to 3rd of 225 but feeling unsure went 205. Again 2 reds for depth i asked the question ref said very close. By now very worried i asked for 210 and smashed very deep and came back up like an opener. 3 white... 2.5kg PR Felt like id be good for 230 i have never had to push hard at all in a comp squat since doing Sheiko/ Daves programs and have put 30kg on it in 26 weeks. A little peeved i still havent found the limit..
Bench went 95kg easy, 105kg easy which i couldnt lock out 7 weeks ago the board work has paid off. My Dad who coached on the day and I hereby got excited and called for 112.5kg. Silly move i JUST couldnt lock out. Still a big stregnth improvment and 2.5kg PR.
Deadlifts by now it was 5.15pm having done my first squat at midday i was over it. Slapped myself around to wake up 200kg easy opener 210kg easy 2nd to get my 525kg Total!! 5kg PR! 220kg 3rd i couldve done but i think my mind had gone home it flew up to my knees and i gave up.
So i hit the 525kg nail on the head! If i can total that on a bad day im good for over 550 on a smarter day. 10kg Total PR
As SP said i hope you realise how much you do for us and how appreciated it is Dave! 6 months ago my best total was 472.5 and i was banging my head on a wall going nowhere! Now im up 52.5kg and have come from thinking id never move forward to feeling confident to total up there where i want to be...
