anyone ever do cycles with know belt. think it would be Good idea or not. I've done Sheiko style training for about 27 weeks and about 95% of the raw squats I have done are without a belt. I really think it has improved my stability on raw and suited squats remarkably. I have been able to work off my raw belted max without a problem and if I have a bad day I can always throw on the belt.

can't see a problem with it, though personally I doubt I could use my belted raw max and comfortably sq 80% triples without the belt...
I spose I would question why it would be done though - unless you have developed some rediculous over-relianace on the belt or a really weak core, then what's wrong with using no belt for < 80% and throwing the belt on at 80% and above?
IIRC that's what Boris' lifters do/did...

I've never seen anything about belts from Boris Ben. That article I seen of his says:-
70% loose wraps 80% suit bottoms & loose wraps 90%+ straps up & wraps
I've been doing all my 50% and 60% work with no belt and that seems to work OK. I couldn't do the same 75% & 80% numberss with no belt I don't think. Might be an interesting idea to run for a full prep cycle well away from a comp perhaps though?

Only use a belt for 95% and up deadlifts.

I don't see a problem with limiting your use of it either. I tend to keep it loose on sets that are 50%-75%, just tight enough that when I push my abs out during the lift, there is some contact, but little support. Simmons suggests something like that for lower percents as well. For anything between 80%-90% I'll keep it one notch from the tightest setting, which of course the last notch is reserved for 90+% lifts.

No reason other than habit.
